Whilst we enjoy nothing better than a €3 glass of classic Vinho Verde, or a post-meal slug of Tawny Port at one of Lisbon’s traditional tascas, we discovered a flourishing natural wine scene during our month in the Portuguese capital.
We were lucky enough to stay in free TrustedHousesitters cat-sits for the majority of our time in Lisbon. To fill in a couple of gaps we also stayed at the Holiday Inn Saldahna Plaza booked with a generous Quidco bonus and Cozy and Sunny Apartment in Anjos. This formed the perfect base to around the best natural wine bars in Lisbon.
All the bars here featured low-intervention Portuguese wines by the glass. You can check out our craft beer and restaurant recommendations too, but first, here are the best natural wine bars in Lisbon…
Holy Wine – the best natural wine bar in Lisbon

In our eyes the best natural wine bar in Lisbon was Holy Wine. With no menu and occasionally surly service, Holy Wine certainly ticked off some of the natural wine scene’s enduring clichés. But it never did so in an oppressive way, and the wine was some of the best we had in the city. It’s a small bar and therefore easy to spill out onto the street on a sunny afternoon.
BOM BOM BOM – the best for a fun night out

Menus with prices, welcoming staff, and yet still extruding cool natural wine bar vibes. BOM BOM BOM was another stand out venue in Lisbon. The wine menu was fun, not too serious, and reasonably priced. It was quiet the afternoon we drank a delicious Alvarinho (more commonly Albariño in Spanish) blend pet-nat, although the dancefloor and soundsystem suggest they gear up for fun evenings too.
Red Nose – the best for the morning after

In the quieter Campo de Ourique neighbourhood of Lisbon, Red Nose is a charming natural wine bar and shop on a sleepy street. They have a broad and accessible selection. We enjoyed a low-intervention Vinho Verde, and a white blend of Fernão Pires + Arinto, both of which are from the Lisbon region.
Locals & Nomads – the best natural wine bar for sunset aperitivo

From the same owners as Red Nose, Locals & Nomads is another natural wine bar and shop combo. It is located on the buzzing Travessa do Monte alleyway in the Graça neighbourhood of Lisbon. The selection is excellent and fun and very good value. Grab a table on the pedestrianised street in the setting sun, a couple of well priced small plates, and whatever the bartender recommends. You’ll be sure to have a good time.
Vino Vero – the best for watching the world go by

The street of Travessa do Monte is well worth spending an evening on its own. Down the other end to Locals & Nomads you’ll come across Vino Vero. They have two locations – both of which we have visited. One here in Lisbon and the other in…. Venice! They have beautiful big windows at the front of the bar which open up right on the street. Not every wine we had here was on-point. But the experience sitting in the windows watching the evenings go by made up for it.
